Boston Uprising Release Faith, MCD and ITSAL

Bryan RockwoodBy Bryan RockwoodNovember 13, 2022Updated:November 13, 20222 Mins Read

The rebuild for the Boston Uprising continues in this young offseason. With the coaching staff gone and a new GM in place, the Uprising now look at their options for players this season. Rosters however have to change, and players will move on. On Saturday November 12, the Boston Uprising announced the release of Hong-gyu “Faith” Kim, Jeong-ho “MCD” Lee and Chang-hee “ITSAL” Kim. General Manager Aaron “Pre” Heckman announced later during the day that Boston declined to pick up the option for these three players.

MCD joined the Uprising prior to the 2022 season as a free agent signing. MCD was a controversial signing at the time as he had been removed from the Hangzhou Spark the previous year due to behavioral issues outside of OWL. At the time, then-GM Christopher “Huk” Loranger made a statement regarding the addition, stating that Boston is giving him a chance to grow and redeem himself. MCD remained out of the spotlight for 2022, and performed well when he had his chance throughout the year.

ITSAL was an Uprising Academy call up that joined the roster late in the preseason. At the time fans were a bit skeptical about the signing as Boston already had two tanks on the roster. However as the season went on, it became a two-man show with ITSAL and Leyton “Punk” Gilchrist sharing tank duties. Though ITSAL had a rough debut, there were still flashes that highlighted what he could do on the biggest stage.

Faith was the most surprising release fo the three, as he has been a core part of the roster for the past two year. Faith joined the team alongside Byeong-ju “Valentine” Kim in 2021, and became a solid presence in the Boston backline.
