San Francisco Shock Release S9mm, Mikeyy, Coluge and Striker

Sweeping changes are common among teams that fail to make a splash through a given year. Rarely do fans see a team that reached the championship drastically alter their roster. However for the San Francisco Shock, that is exactly what they did. On Friday November 11, the Shock announced their decision to release Nam-joo “Striker” Kwon, Samuel “s9mm” Santos, Colin “Coluge” Arai and Michael “Mikeyy” Konicki.

Today we bid farewell to @STRIKER_OW, @CucumberColuge, @s9mmow and @mikeyy_ow.

Thank you for joining us on our journey this year, and all of the passion and hard work you have put in. Thank you for an amazing season.

The release of these players comes as a surprise to many fans as San Francisco found themselves a map away from a third championship for the franchise. Coluge and S9mm stood out as key members of the roster early in the season and remained pivotal pieces for San Franciso’s regular season win streak.

Mikeyy was a mid-season addition to the roster to give the Shock a bit more flexibilty at the tank position. While Coluge was wildly successful on the majority of tanks, Mikeyy helped fill in the rest. The two tanks often split time, giving the other some rest throughout a series.

Striker was a late season acquisition that served as the team’s Reaper specialist. This was Striker’s second stint with the Shock, where he had helped the team win back-to-back championships.
